What better place than Fall City, Washington to watch your dreams come true? Not everyone has a passion in life, let alone the tenacity, creativity, energy and commitment to turn it into a business. However, long time Fall City resident Teddi Morton does have that drive which has allowed her to follow her instincts and build a business while doing what she loves to do, make candles. After many months of planning, stumbling upon a couple of willing local silent partners, construction of a retail shop, hours upon hours of smelling every imaginable scent while pouring pound after pound of wax, Teddi and her partners have opened the Raging River Candle Company.

Following the death of her husband, George K. Morton, in 1997, Teddi found herself a single mother of three children working hard to simply make ends meet. Wanting to keep her family grounded in the community they had come to love, Teddi knew she had to budget her resources in order to do so. Regardless how tough times got, she never sacrificed herself or her kids the opportunity to light a candle and relax while it illuminated their spirits and enhanced their environment. Not being able to afford high quality candles did not stop Teddi; she used her creativity and learned to make them on her own. In fact, she found out that not only could she spend time with her family by making candles, she could make high quality heavier scented candles than the ones she was buying. Soon her kitchen became a make shift candle factory. Friends and family would stop by and say, "I just had to smell your kitchen." As time passed Teddi began experimenting with her candle making and her natural creative talents emerged. She filled all sorts of molds and jars while experimenting with waxes, wicks and scents. Soon her friends and family were demanding she make candles for them as well. Before she knew it Teddi was selling her heavily scented candles made on her kitchen stove to friends and family throughout the Valley and covering her costs while doing so.

Knowing she had stumbled on her direction in life but feeling overwhelmed by the enormity of starting a business (remember, she is creative and loves to make candles), Teddi struggled with the possibility of building a business from the ground up. Then one day in July, 2003, while sitting around a picnic table at a local barbeque, Teddi discussed her thoughts with a couple of friends who had tried her candles before and understood the quality of her product. Those same friends saw in Teddi the tenacious personality that could move mountains let alone create a line of high quality candles here in Fall City. The group met on several occasions identifying each individual's strengths, weaknesses and contributions to the candle business. Within weeks, Teddi and her new partners had started the Raging River Candle Company.
